Enjoy the tenderness of slow-cooked lamb with Datar’s Nihari Curry Spice Mix.

INGREDIENTS :

Datar Nihari Curry Spice Mix: 4 tablespoons (25 grams)
Lamb Shank (mutton): 1 kg
Onion Slices: 4 (300 grams)
Ginger Paste: 2 tablespoons (20 grams)
Garlic Paste: 2 tablespoons (30 grams)
Wheat Flour: 1 cup (100 grams)
Vegetable Oil: 10 tablespoons (50 ml)
Ghee : 3 tablespoons (15 ml)
Water: 5 cups (1 litre)
Datar Salt: As per taste
Vegetable Oil: 10 tablespoons (50 ml)

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the sliced onions and sauté slowly.Cook on a low flame for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add ginger, garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute. Add the lamb shanks and Datar Nihari Curry Spice Mix and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add 4 cups of water, and salt to taste. Cover the pan and cook till the shanks are tender.
  • Take 1 cup of water in a bowl. Add the wheat flour and mix properly. Add this mixture to the cooked shanks and cook for 2 minutes till the gravy becomes thick.
  • Take ghee in a pan and fry the sliced onions in ghee till it becomes crispy and keep aside.
  • Garnish the Datar Nihari with the fried onion slices. Serve with tandoori roti or naan.
