Indulge in a divine blend of aromas and taste with Datar’s Sambar Masala Spice Mix

INGREDIENTS :

Datar Sambar Masala Spice Mix : 5 tablespoons
Toor Dal: 200 grams
Chopped Tomato: 150 grams
Chopped Vegetables (Onion, Potato, Brinjal, Pumpkin, Drumstick, Lady’s Finger): 400 grams
Tamarind Paste: 4 tablespoons
Fenugreek Seeds: ¼ teaspoons
Mustard Seeds: ¼ teaspoon
Curry Leaves:10
Kashmiri Chili: 5
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Datar Salt: as per taste

METHOD OF PREPARATION :

  • Soak 200 grams of toor dal for two hours.
  • Boil the soaked dal in a pressure cooker with the required quantity of water. Keep it aside.
  • Add chopped onion, potato, brinjal, drumstick, lady’s finger & pumpkin in water and cook it.
  • Add it to the cooked dal and add 5 tablespoons of Datar Sambar Masala Spice Mix, 2 sliced tomatoes and tamarind paste. Cook this for 5 minutes.
  • Take oil in a pan and heat it with fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, Kashmiri chili and curry leaves for a few seconds.
  • Add this to the cooked dal and vegetables. Add Datar Salt as per taste and cook for 5 minutes.
  • For making the Tamarind Paste: Soak a small ball of tamarind in water. When it is soft, mash it with your fingers and dissolve it into the water. Remove any strands or skin and discard.
