Soak 200 grams of toor dal for two hours.Boil the soaked dal in a pressure cooker with the required quantity of water. Keep it aside.Add chopped onion, potato, brinjal, drumstick, lady’s finger & pumpkin in water and cook it.Add it to the cooked dal and add 5 tablespoons of Datar Sambar Masala Spice Mix, 2 sliced tomatoes and tamarind paste. Cook this for 5 minutes.Take oil in a pan and heat it with fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, Kashmiri chili and curry leaves for a few seconds.Add this to the cooked dal and vegetables. Add Datar Salt as per taste and cook for 5 minutes.For making the Tamarind Paste: Soak a small ball of tamarind in water. When it is soft, mash it with your fingers and dissolve it into the water. Remove any strands or skin and discard.
